Welcome to Athey Creek Middle School Garage Sale Page
A big thank you to everyone who donated, set up, sold, and cleaned up at the event.
The biggest thank you to event coordinator and shipping-container-stuffer-extraordinaire, Saleen. Without you, none of this is possible. Thank you.
Let's face it, every school, parent group, sports team, etc has to raise money and we're all working with the same community and resources. Five years ago the Athey PTSA chose a fundraiser where we didn't have to ask for money, just donated castoff's. We chose the garage sale because it recycles, repurposes and it raises money by inviting in patrons from communities near and far.
How do we do it? We collect donations every week from December to April, store onsite, organize, sort, price and put on sale for two days. Leftover items are donated to local charities. We raise money, recycle, help charities and have a FUN time!
What do we do with the $? Every single dollar raised is spent on your teachers (we raise between $15K and $19K). Teacher grant requests have included disc golf course, technology, language arts materials, scientific equipment, band, choir, P.E. anything and everything!
How can you help? EASY!! Easiest volunteering experience ever!
WHEN???
Although the 2015-2016 garage sale is now behind us, on April 16 and 17th, 2016.....the next one is just around the corner. Volunteers to help organize are always welcome at time throughout the year. Please contact a PTSA board member, through the 'contact us' page above for more information.
~~~Thank you to Athey Creek parent Erica Lemons for coordinating the shipping containers in which all the garage sale items are stored before the sale.~~~
Questions? There will be lots of reminders and more details along the way but if you have questions, need to donate something large, volunteer info etc, feel free to email, Saleen Chenevert @ [email protected]
Every single item donated, every single hour volunteered makes a huge difference to your school and is greatly appreciated!
- Donate! Kids are back in school, go clean out their closets, under their beds, toy boxes, garages, your neighbors’ house and bring in items that you can no longer use! Anyone can donate! (we can’t accept mattresses, tube televisions, car seats or underwear)
- Volunteer! You can help at the weekly donation drop days, setting up the sale and at the sale itself! Check the volunteer form that came home in this envelope, watch Athey Notes, PTSA facebook or webpage. And if you have a truck/trailer and are willing to pick up large furniture a couple times in the spring – email me J We have a great deal of fun along the way and it’s a wonderful way to meet other parents.
